Stoner Gifts in New Jersey: A West Orange Dispensary Gift Guide

The short answer

In New Jersey an adult 21 or older may give up to one ounce of cannabis to another adult 21 or older, as long as no money changes hands. That makes the best gift for a cannabis fan the real thing, bought from a licensed store. On November 2, 2026 our menu had pre-rolls from $9.99, 5 mg THC drinks at $25.00 a four-pack, eighths from $25.00 and vapes from $39.99.

  • Legal to give, not to sell or ship: the rules are quoted below from the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission and the statute.
  • Everything here was on our shelf on November 2, 2026. No invented bundles, no products we do not carry.
  • Not on the menu that evening: gummies, concentrates, merchandise and gift cards. We say so where it matters.
  • Order ahead, pick up in West Orange. 21+ with a valid ID.

The short list, by person

Most gift lists online are glass and socks shipped from a warehouse. This one is what a West Orange store can hand you this week, at shelf prices on November 2, 2026, before tax.

The first-timer
A Stereo beverage 4-pack. Each can is 5 mg of THC, a low dose with a clear label, and a drink is easier to pace than a joint. $25.00 on our menu on November 2, 2026.
The regular
An eighth they would not buy for themselves. Kai Bobby Brown was marked Staff Pick on our menu ($59.99 for 3.5 g), and Grasshopper Farms Kush Cake was $45.99.
The one who has everything
A 2 g all-in-one vape from Loud Stash ($69.99), or a 5 g jar of Field Trip Ztopia smalls ($59.99) for someone who rolls their own.
The host
A pre-roll multi-pack to share after dinner: Field Trip Punch Pop 5-pack or Melon Bomb 2-pack, $13.99 each on November 2, 2026.
The person you cannot read
Bring them in and let a budtender help them pick, or call (862) 415-1353 to ask about a gift card; our online menu does not list one.

The short list, by budget

Every item below was listed on our online menu on November 2, 2026. Three items marked for Ch.eaf members only (Grasshopper Farms Kush Mints flower and two Lucky's live resin vapes) are left out. New Jersey adds 6.625% sales tax plus a social equity excise fee of 1/3 of 1% at the register.

What New Jersey law lets you give

Quoted word for word from the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission and the CREAMM Act, read on November 2, 2026. Links are in the Sources section.

  • You may give cannabis to another adult. The NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission's answer to "Can I give my friends cannabis as a gift?" is: "Yes. You may give up to 28.35 grams (1 ounce) of cannabis to another adult 21 years or older. You may not accept any form of payment or compensation for the gifted cannabis."
  • The statute says the same. The CREAMM Act (P.L.2021, c.16, section 46, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a) makes lawful "Transferring without remuneration: one ounce (28.35 grams) or less of usable cannabis; the equivalent of one ounce (28.35 grams) or less of usable cannabis as a cannabis product in solid, liquid, or concentrate form ... to a person who is of legal age for purchasing cannabis items, provided that such transfer is for non-promotional, non-business purposes."
  • The gift must come from a licensed store. The same section applies when a cannabis item "was first obtained directly from a licensed cannabis retailer ... evidenced by it being in its original packaging or by a sales slip, invoice, receipt, or other statement or memorandum."
  • Anyone 21 or older can buy it. The CRC: "Who can buy? Anyone - New Jersey residents or visitors - 21 years and older."

In plain terms: buy it yourself at a licensed store, keep the packaging and receipt, hand it to an adult 21 or older inside New Jersey, and take nothing for it.

Drinks and edibles as gifts

A drink or an edible is the easiest gift to get right, because the dose is printed on the package. On November 2, 2026 our Edibles shelf held two beverages and nothing else.

Beverages on The Library's online menu on November 2, 2026, with dose per can and price
ItemPrice
Stereo Blood Orange Hibiscus, beverage 4-packTHC 5 mg and CBD 10 mg per can (menu: 2 to 1)$25.00
Stereo Clementine Vanilla, beverage 4-packTHC 5 mg per can (menu: Hybrid)$25.00
  • Why 5 mg matters for a gift: the NJ CRC advises new consumers to start with a low amount and wait to feel the full effects before having more. A 5 mg can is a whole serving a beginner can finish. Our THC drinks page explains how to read the can.
  • Gummies were not on our menu on November 2, 2026. When they are stocked, the label tells you the dose per piece; our gummies guide, 5 mg gummies and 10 mg gummies pages explain which dose suits a beginner and which a regular. Check the Edibles shelf before you come in.

Flower, pre-rolls and vapes

For someone who already smokes, the best gift is a jar they would not buy for themselves. The three shelves on November 2, 2026:

  • Flower (17 items): eighths from $25.00 (Black Bag Tricross) to $59.99 (Kai Bobby Brown, Staff Pick). Read about Kush Cake, on the shelf from Grasshopper Farms at $45.99. Browse the Flower shelf.
  • Smalls (5 g): Field Trip Ztopia smalls were $59.99 for 5 g. Our small buds page explains why smalls cost less per gram.
  • Pre-rolls (6 items): singles from $9.99 (Black Bag Mad Rabbit #5 and Cherry Diesel, 1.2 g), two-packs at $12.99 and $13.99, a five-pack at $13.99. See the Pre-Rolls shelf or our pre-rolls guide.
  • Vapes (6 items): Seagrass Miami Vice 1 g all-in-one at $39.99 and Loud Stash 2 g all-in-ones at $69.99. Two Lucky's live resin vapes (Romulan and Hindu Kush) were marked for Ch.eaf members. See the Vaporizers shelf or our vapes guide.
  • Concentrates: our menu had no Concentrates shelf on November 2, 2026. Our concentrates guide covers the types; call (862) 415-1353 to ask what is coming in.

Accessories, merch and gift cards

Plainly, because most gift lists are built on accessories:

  • Papers, cones and wraps: the Accessories shelf on November 2, 2026 held Tuxedo rolling papers ($1.50), cones ($2.50) and wraps ($2.00) in Original, Sweet, Berry, Mango and Vanilla Cream. A pack of wraps or cones is a small add-on to a jar of flower. See the Accessories shelf or our blunt wraps page.
  • Grinders, lighters, glass, apparel: none were listed on our online menu on November 2, 2026. Our grinder guide explains what to look for if you buy one elsewhere.
  • Gift cards: our online menu lists no gift card. Call (862) 415-1353 or ask at the register. Our dispensary gift cards page explains what New Jersey law requires of any store gift card (the money cannot expire for at least two years, and small balances are paid out in cash on request).

What you cannot do with a cannabis gift

Six rules, each quoted from its source.

No gifts to anyone under 21
The CREAMM Act says a transfer "to a person who is not of legal age to purchase cannabis items, shall be considered a violation of the Comprehensive Drug Reform Act of 1987" and treats it "as if the person distributed marijuana or hashish in violation of that act."
No shipping, no mail
Cannabis is listed in Schedule I of the federal Controlled Substances Act (21 CFR 1308.11 lists "Marihuana" and "Marihuana Extract"). The U.S. Postal Service's rule: "If the distribution of a controlled substance is unlawful under 21 U.S.C. § 801-971 or any implementing regulation in 21 CFR Chapter 2, then the mailing of the substance is also unlawful under 18 U.S.C. § 1716." Hand it over in person, inside New Jersey.
Don't carry it across state lines
The CRC's answer to "Can I take my purchase back home to another state?" is: "No. It is still illegal to transport cannabis across statelines." A gift for someone in New York or Pennsylvania has to be given here.
Keep it sealed in the car
N.J.S.A. 39:4-51b (as amended by the CREAMM Act) says occupants of a vehicle on a public highway "shall be prohibited from possessing any open or unsealed alcoholic beverage container or unsealed cannabis item ... that is intended to be consumed by means of smoking, vaping, or aerosolizing," and that you are not in possession if the item "is located in the trunk of a motor vehicle." Leave the store packaging on and put the bag in the trunk.
Don't sell it, trade it or use it as a promo
The lawful transfer is "without remuneration" and "for non-promotional, non-business purposes." Splitting the cost, taking a favor in return or handing it out to customers is not a gift under the statute.
Don't go over the limit in one trip
The CRC: "In each transaction, dispensaries are allowed to sell up to the equivalent of 28.35 grams or 1 ounce of usable cannabis." Possession is capped too: "New Jersey state law allows adults 21 years and older to have up to 6 oz of cannabis and cannabis products in their possession."

How to hand it over

  1. Buy it yourself. The person receiving it does not need to be there, but they must be 21 or older.
  2. Leave every item in its original packaging and keep the receipt with it.
  3. Drive it home in the trunk, sealed. Do not open anything in the car.
  4. Give it in person, in New Jersey. Do not mail it, ship it or carry it to another state.
  5. Take nothing in return. A gift is a gift under the statute only when it is "without remuneration."

Stoner gifts in NJ: questions

What are good stoner gifts you can actually buy in New Jersey?

Cannabis from a licensed dispensary, bought by an adult 21 or older and handed to another adult 21 or older. On November 2, 2026, The Library's menu had pre-rolls from $9.99, Stereo 5 mg THC beverage four-packs at $25.00, eighths from $25.00 to $59.99 and all-in-one vapes from $39.99 to $69.99. It listed no merchandise or gift card; call (862) 415-1353 to ask about a gift card.

Is it legal to give weed as a gift in NJ?

Yes, between adults 21 and older. The NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission says you may give up to 28.35 grams (1 ounce) of cannabis to another adult 21 years or older and may not accept any form of payment or compensation for it. The CREAMM Act (N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a) calls this transferring without remuneration for non-promotional, non-business purposes.

How much cannabis can I give someone in New Jersey?

Up to one ounce (28.35 grams) of usable cannabis, the equivalent of one ounce as a cannabis product in solid, liquid or concentrate form, or five grams (0.176 ounce) or less of cannabis resin, per the CREAMM Act. The dispensary can sell you up to the equivalent of one ounce in a single transaction.

Can I mail or ship a cannabis gift from New Jersey?

No. Cannabis is a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law (21 CFR 1308.11), and USPS Publication 52 section 453.31 says mailing a controlled substance whose distribution is unlawful under federal law is itself unlawful under 18 U.S.C. 1716. New Jersey's rules also say it is illegal to transport cannabis across state lines. Give it in person, in New Jersey.

Can I buy a weed gift for someone who is under 21?

No. The CREAMM Act treats a transfer to a person who is not of legal age to purchase cannabis items as a violation of the Comprehensive Drug Reform Act of 1987, the same as distributing marijuana. New Jersey dispensaries only serve adults 21 and older with a valid photo ID.

Can I make a weed gift basket in New Jersey?

Build your own from a licensed dispensary's menu: a pre-roll two-pack, a beverage four-pack and wraps or cones, for example. Keep every item in its original packaging with the receipt, stay at or under the equivalent of one ounce, and give it to an adult 21 or older in New Jersey without taking anything in return. The Library's menu on November 2, 2026 had no pre-made basket or bundle.
