Christmas Eve 2026 is a Thursday and Christmas Day is a Friday. New Year's Eve is the following Thursday and New Year's Day 2027 is a Friday. That puts two holidays in each of the last two weeks of the year, and the safest plan for both is the same: order ahead the day before, pick up, and confirm the day's hours by phone.

This page gives The Library's regular published hours for every day from December 21 to January 3, with the four holiday days marked “call to confirm” until the store posts them, what New Jersey law says about how much you can buy and give, and how to order so your bag is ready when you arrive at 5 Washington Street in West Orange.

The short version

Holiday dates: Thu Dec 24, Fri Dec 25, Thu Dec 31 and Fri Jan 1. Order ahead on the live menu, bring a 21+ photo ID, stay within 1 ounce per transaction, and call (862) 786-0886 to confirm the hours before a holiday run.

Holiday Weeks, Day by Day

Every day from Monday, December 21, 2026 to Sunday, January 3, 2027. Holiday rows are marked. The other days show the store's regular published hours.

Are Dispensaries Open on Christmas in New Jersey?

It depends on the store. The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission's adult-use page sets who can buy and how much; it does not list holiday hours. So the answer for any New Jersey dispensary is that store's own posted hours, and the fastest way to be sure on the day is to call.

Be careful with what comes up first when you search. When we checked the Google results for “dispensaries open on christmas” from West Orange on October 18, 2026, the top pages were store pages and news from Massachusetts, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, plus Reddit and Instagram posts. Those answer for their own states and stores. For The Library, the table at the top of this page is the answer.

Order Ahead for the Holidays

  1. Order the day before the holiday. Browse the live menu, add what you want and reserve it for pickup. The menu shows what is in stock that day.
  2. Pick up in store or at the curb. Choose curbside at checkout and call when you arrive. The Curbside Pickup page explains how it works.
  3. Bring the ID you ordered with. The name on the order and the photo ID must match, and you must be 21 or older.
  4. Stay inside one ounce. If your cart mixes flower, concentrate and edibles, add them up against the state cap below before you check out.
  5. Confirm the holiday cutoff. Doors close 15 minutes before closing time on regular days. On a holiday, call (862) 786-0886 to confirm the last pickup time.

Reserve now, pick up before the holiday.

This page names no holiday deal. For current specials, see the Deals page. Shopping for someone else? The 2026 New Jersey cannabis gift guide has ideas, and Thanksgiving week is covered in the Green Wednesday 2026 guide.

New Jersey Rules for a Holiday Run

These come from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission; the links are in the Sources section. Two matter most in December: the one-ounce cap is per transaction, and gifts have their own limit.

  • You must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID. New Jersey residents and visitors can both buy (Cannabis Regulatory Commission).
  • Per transaction: the equivalent of 1 ounce (28.35 grams). That is 1 ounce of flower, or 4 grams of concentrate, resin or vape oil, or 1,000 mg of edibles, or a mix, for example a half ounce of flower plus 2 grams of concentrate.
  • Possession: adults 21 and older may have up to 6 ounces.
  • Gifting: you may give up to 1 ounce to another adult 21 or older, with no payment of any kind in return.
  • Use it on private property; property owners, including landlords, can limit or prohibit it.
  • Do not drive after using. The Cannabis Regulatory Commission says impaired-driving laws apply to cannabis.
  • Cannabis bought in New Jersey stays in New Jersey: carrying it across state lines is illegal, even to a holiday dinner in another state.

Giving cannabis as a gift is legal in New Jersey between adults 21 and older, up to 1 ounce, as long as nothing is paid or traded for it. Accepting any payment or compensation for it is not allowed.
