Shatter is a type of cannabis concentrate known for its glass-like, translucent appearance. When properly made, shatter is hard, brittle, and breaks (shatters) like glass when snapped — hence the name. It is made using butane hash oil (BHO) extraction, where butane is used as a solvent to strip cannabinoids and terpenes from plant material. The extract is then purged of residual solvents and cooled, resulting in a flat, amber-colored sheet. Shatter typically contains 70-90% THC.

Shatter FAQ

How do you smoke shatter?

Shatter is consumed by dabbing — heating a nail or banger with a torch, then placing a small piece of shatter on the hot surface to vaporize it. You can also break shatter into small pieces and add them to the top of a bowl of flower, or use an e-rig or concentrate vaporizer. Do not try to smoke shatter in a joint — it will not burn properly.

Is shatter stronger than wax?

Shatter and wax have similar THC levels (70-90%). The main difference is texture and terpene content. Shatter is more stable and has a longer shelf life, while wax has a softer, more malleable texture with slightly more terpene retention. Neither is significantly stronger than the other.
